NTU Years 2003-2007

Abdul Samad | Sales Manager, Samad Apparel
B.Sc. Textile Engineering (Garments Manufacturing), NTU, Class of 2007

I’m Abdul Samad, and if you’re reading this, chances are you’re somewhere along your own textile journey, wondering what lies ahead. Well, let me take you back to my days at National Textile University, Faisalabad, where it all began for me, Class of 2007!

I walked into NTU thinking I knew a thing or two about fabrics and fashion, but I was I in for a wild ride. My degree in Textile Engineering, specializing in Garments Manufacturing, turned out to be way more than just textbooks and exams. I got to learn textile materials, design principles, and production techniques. Sounds excruciating, right? But trust me, the real magic happened when I rolled up my sleeves and got into the practical stuff—internships, research projects, you name it. That’s where the real action was. It wasn’t always easy, but it was a blast!

After graduation, I knew I wasn’t just going to be handed my dream job wrapped in a bow. I started my roles in production and as a junior engineer. I quickly learned how the entire manufacturing process works. Quality control? Check. Understanding operational flow? Got it. I even dipped my toes into sales and marketing—because, let’s face it, someone’s got to sell those clothes, right?

Eventually, I found my groove in sales (who knew?), and today, I’m the Sales Manager at Samad Apparel. I oversee teams, manage projects, and help steer the company toward new opportunities. But here’s the thing, none of this happened overnight. I had to keep learning, adapting, and staying on top of industry trends. The textile world is always changing, with new technologies and sustainability practices popping up left and right. It’s a fast moving train, and if you don’t stay curious, you’ll miss it!

So, here’s my advice to you, to future textile engineers. Don’t just stick to the books. Get your hands dirty, explore different areas, and keep your mind open. Networking is very important, go to industry events, meet people, and share your ideas and talk. And most importantly, have fun with it! You’ll never know where this field might take you, but trust me, it’s an exciting ride. Keep learning, keep growing, and never stop chasing those opportunities!
