It is often said that women in our society are helpless, deprived of basic necessities, and less empowered. However, we fail to see the true struggle, strength, empowerment, and pragmatism that they possess, despite their fragile outlook.
The patriarchy has severely blurred our vision, making it difficult to see things in their true nature. Women, despite being a part of a patriarchal society, exhibit much more strength and courage in performing their duties efficiently. They cooperate gently with any kind of surrounding, even when it remains belligerent and hostile toward their existence. I have observed that women in our society are constantly consuming themselves to make it run smoothly. If women deliberately quit their roles and stand in an “eye for an eye” condition with men, society would vanish completely. However, no one seems to recognize the strength and flexibility that Almighty has poured into these beautiful beings, who can bear such a huge burden of responsibilities even better than men, who are considered stronger.
If men in our society were to give a chance to move on this trajectory (as the so-called “Aorat-Ki-Patri” in the words of Khalil-ur- Rehman), I firmly challenge that they would not be able to move a single step in this direction.
When we look beyond the myopic range, we can see that our women are already empowered and are performing their roles with great gentleness. It is men in our society who always exhibit parochial behavior towards women and try to constantly intervene in their realm. We commonly misinterpret things in our day-to-day life. For instance, we see women as very fragile and inferior beings, but they actually possess much more power and strength to bear the burden of responsibilities than men in our society. Despite all their positive contributions, men often deny their worth completely.
As a society, we need to be more critical and conscious of our actions and intentions. We need to be aware of our roles and responsibilities and be more open-minded and tolerant while experiencing life. I consider myself too inferior, limited, and incapable of gauging the role of women in our society. I am simply too delicate to know their true dignity and holiness.
